Nestled in the trees and projecting dramatically from the side of the hill, the Carby Chapel Center is the focal point of the Lutherhill facility. The Chapel center has approximately 5,000 sq/ft of indoor space for worship and meeting, along with an additional 5,000 sq/ft of outdoor patio and porch.
The popular Tree Chapel has been a landmark at Lutherhill for decades. If you’re new to Lutherhill, you might drive right past it and never notice the beauty of this holy place. Located just below the dining hall, the oak tree has an impressive life span! The Tree Chapel received a facelift in 1999 when boy scout Eric Heidt redid the seating area for his Eagle Scout project. Thanks Eric! Eric is a member of New Hope in Missouri City. In 2011 the Tree Chapel nearly met it’s fate when a fire came within a foot of the old live oak. Firefighters, familiar with Lutherhill, back-burned around the oak and saved it. Though camp has grown larger, the Tree Chapel remains a small, quiet retreat from the rest of camp. It’s a wonderful place to have Bible study.
The view of sunsets are legendary at the Hillside Chapel.
