Our Style

Mission Statement

Lutherhill welcomes all people of every generation, to experience the love of Christ in unique settings and new ways.

A little about our style

Because God calls us to be in community, we structure camp so that we can focus on the community through the “village system” camping model. Each camper lives in a cabin with a group of 6-12 other children of his/her age, and each cabin is paired with one or two other cabins to make a village. Throughout the week, this “village” participates in all activities together, working together, playing together, and learning to make decisions as a community.

Value Statements

We share our values with campers through word and action. Living out our values and staying true to them as we plan our programs.

Hospitality-That all are valued, cared for, and loved through their interactions with Lutherhill.

Love of Christ-To exemplify Christ’s Love, and a desire for all to experience that Love.

Holy Spaces-We strive to create opportunities for people to experience God’s presence in all things.

Community-We value relationship modeled around God’s Love and acceptance.

Campers will:

  • Grow in their faith through interactive and creative daily bible studies, worships and cabin devotions
  • Learn to live in community by making decisions together for their daily schedule, service to others.
  • Be valued and listened to by the camp staff.
  • Encouraged to experience new things through the camp program and activities offered
  • Experience God’s creation through spending time in nature and learning how to care for this gift.
  • Have Fun!

Camp Activities

As your camper grows so does their activity list at camp. For a description of the progression of a camper, click here.

Archery: Campers get to experience the thrill of archery and walk away with enthusiasm for their new-found skill!

Arts & Crafts: Campers will use many different media throughout the week to inspire imagination and create works of art!
Astronomy: View the night sky through one of Lutherhill’s three telescopes while learning from a devotion about the heavens!
Canteen: The clubhouse of Lutherhill! Campers can stop by for a snack & drink while playing a game of pool, air hockey, foosball or ping pong.

Camp Fire & S’mores: What more is there to say? Our most nostalgic past time.

Camp Games: We call this All Camp, where all the villages come together each evening to participate in camp-wide games or activities.

Gaga Ball: Challenge your cabin to a game! Like dodgeball, but played in an arena by rolling a ball at another player and getting them out by hitting their legs. Gaga Ball can be played in a free-for-all or cabin against cabin.

Gauntlet: This is a physical mental and creative competition that takes place between cabin groups in order to earn the coveted spirit stick.

Labyrinth: Campers are encouraged to walk, crawl, run, sit, pause, pray or play in the labyrinth. The labyrinth has only one path into the center and return is through that same path. Campers can find peace using this ancient meditation tool.

Night Swim: Make a splash under the stars in the pool.

9 Square in the Air: This NEW game puts a whole new spin on 4 square! Played above your head, this group activity is fast paced and a whole ton of fun!

Out Camp: Enjoy a night under the stars. Make your own campfire dinner. Build cabin community, learn about nature, play outdoor games, AND sway in hammocks and snooze in tree houses.

Pond: Home to the Blob, our giant water trampoline, and our NEW SupremeFall Floating Waterslide. Campers can climb up the large structure on one side or fly down the slide on the other! Campers of all ages enjoy water games and swimming.

Pool: This 10,000-gallon pool is the best way to cool off. The diving board is a fun way to make a big splash!
Low Ropes: This activity promotes new ways of getting groups to think together. Campers develop new problem-solving skills while working together to accomplish a common goal.

High Ropes: A heart-pounding, adrenaline-rushing, palm sweating activity. Campers learn to work together as a team and work through their fear and anxieties toward a common goal. This is accomplished by creating a situation that will challenge any individual mentally and physically. No one leaves unchallenged, and everyone has fun! Ropes Course (Yearlings get to try out the giant swing. Confirmation, Adventure LYLE and Family campers get to use the full ropes course).

Sports: Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Hula-hoop, Ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee Golf, and Kitty-pool Kick-ball!

Visit our Naturalist: Go explore camp in new ways. Focus on God’s creation through activities such as GPS navigated tours of camp, time in our gardens, or on a nature walk.

Zoom Floom: This 60-foot water slide is like none you’ve ever seen! Safe, fast and fun, the Zoom Floom is a BIG waterslide guaranteed to make a big splash!

Camp Store

Your camper will be able to shop at our Camp Store throughout the week. We have a variety of Lutherhill souvenirs! Prices start at $5 but the average price for a souvenir is $15. Money can be put on account prior to arrival or can be collected at registration. Campers are not allowed to keep cash in their cabins. Any remainder of the account balance will be returned at the end of the week. Parents, you will have an opportunity to visit the Camp Store after picking up your camper at the end of their stay.
